On the 20th of December 2018 Dr.-Ing. Mario Schierz successfully defended his dissertation. His topic „Increasing the elastic potential of press connections by plastic conditioning of the joining partners“ sets new standards in the field of designing highly stressed shaft-hub connections. The available calculation method allows for the first time a targeted plastic conditioning of these machine elements to increase their elastic transferability. In the lively discussion, Dr. Schierz was able to convincingly demonstrate that he has undoubtedly achieved this goal in the case of the investigated press connections. In the subsequent evening event, the discussions were then continued until deep into the night, with the technical diction increasingly being modulated.
