The former holder of the professorship “Konstruktionslehre”, Prof. Erhard Leidich, recently celebrated his 70th birthday. He took over the newly founded chair in 1993 and, under his leadership, pushed research in the field of strength of machine elements and in particular shaft-hub connections to an international level. Furthermore, he laid the foundations for the research areas of tribology and plain bearings at the professorship and took a look into the fields of gearings and design methodology. In teaching, he represented the basic subjects technical drawing/CAD, design and machine elements, engineering methodics and strength calculation as well as economic product development.
At the beginning of April 2018, after 25 years, he handed over the chair with the new dedication Machine Elements and Product Development to Prof. Alexander Hasse. As Senior Expert he still supports the staff with his outstanding competences. The colleagues and staff of the professorship congratulate the jubilarian and thank him for his commitment.
