New research project: Media Lubrication

The application of unconventional lubricants is increasingly moving into the focus of industrial applications. The replacement of classical oil and grease-based lubrication has high potential from a tribological point of view as well as in terms of environmental friendliness. Media already present in the system, such as diesel fuel, but also water or air may be considered.
The corresponding media must be quantified in terms of friction and wear or possible interactions such as corrosion. In order to do justice to the main focus of media lubrication, investigations will be carried out at the professorship MP alongside the research project Lubricant Qualification, in order to examine to what extent the methods developed can be applied to media-lubricated systems.
