In February, Mr. Suchy and colleagues from the Technical University of Prague published new research results in the journal „Metals“.
In the publication „Benchmarking Newer Multiaxial Fatigue Strength Criteria on Data Sets of Various Sizes“, the authors investigated the validation process of new fatigue criteria for multiaxial fatigue stresses. Six newly introduced criteria and four existing (already validated) criteria for estimating fatigue strength of metallic materials were used for the study. All criteria were validated on an extensive experimental data set. For more time-efficient validation, a compact data package (AMSD25) was extracted from the existing FatLim data set. Comparative validation was performed on this smaller data package.
The comparison shows that the use of the AMSD25 dataset can reduce the number of validation runs evaluated, while maintaining statistical confidence. New fatigue criteria can thus be evaluated more quickly in the future.
