Mrs. Nettlenbusch and Dr. Reißmann attended the 4th Symposium on Education for Sustainable Development at the New City Hall in Leipzig on May 9th.
The event focused on the topic of ESD and global perspectives. After a short introduction, the event started with an inspiring speech by Benki Piyãko, the representative of the indigenous Asháninka people from the Brazilian Amazon basin. His appeal was very clear: in the near future, people should no longer live from nature but with it; any positive change, no matter how small, could make a difference.
This was followed by a moderated discussion with representatives of local and state politics and a non-governmental organization. Interesting keynote speeches followed.
The event was rounded off by various workshops. From these we were able to take away many ideas for teaching.
