Treasure hunt in the Rabenstein forest

On October 2, the IKAT set out on an exciting treasure hunt through the Rabenstein Forest. The goal was to uncover a treasure left behind by former colleagues—now known mostly from stories passed down.

The route led from the Rabenstein Viaduct past the castle and onward to the reservoir. There, among the trees with a view of the lake, the treasure hunters made their first discovery. But the search was not over yet: after discussing the next steps atop the observation tower, another clue was found at the forester’s lodge. This partial success was celebrated with a toast and a strengthening picnic.

Re-energized, the group embarked on the final stage of the journey, climbing over roots and rocks until, behind a fallen birch tree, the long-awaited treasure was finally uncovered: beverages to give today’s PhD candidates the strength to achieve outstanding research results—and, like the nearly forgotten colleagues of the past, to turn them into successful dissertations.

The day concluded with a guided tour of the marble mine at the Felsendome and a well-deserved evening meal together.
