The module „Konstruktionslehre/Maschinenelemente“ forms a central basis of mechanical engineering studies. It teaches the methodological and practical principles for developing technical drawings.
The classic design process is iterative: a new design is created through several optimisation steps in which function, load capacity and cost-effectiveness are improved. The final iteration is always created in compliance with relevant norms and guidelines. This adherence to Standards ensures the interchangeability, safety and comprehensibility of technical products and is therefore an essential part of engineering work.
The aim of the „Konstruktionslehre/Maschinenelemente“ module is to enable students to read and create technical drawings in accordance with Standards. The lecture covers the theoretical basics, while the practical application is taught in the exercises. The use of CAD systems forms the basis for the computer-aided implementation and documentation of the designs.
In addition, the module provides the technical basis for further courses offered by the Professorship in the areas of strength of materials, methodical design and digital design. It thus teaches theoretical principles using modern, practice-oriented engineering methodology and forms the starting point for in-depth technical developments.
