As part of the DFG project “Condition Characterization of Hydrodynamic Plain Bearings Based on Capacitive Effects”, Prof. Eckhard Kirchner and Florian Kötz from the Institute for Product Development and Machine Elements at TU Darmstadt visited IKAT. Together with Björn Prase and Prof. Alexander Hasse, the current state of the project was discussed. The developed sensor-integrated plain bearing has now been completed and will be experimentally tested this week by Florian Kötz and Björn Prase. This technology enables reliable condition and performance monitoring of hydrodynamic plain bearings during operation, allowing, for example, early detection critical and unreliable operating conditions. We are looking forward to the upcoming tests, the results, and continuing our successful collaboration.
