We have also revised our e-offers for you for 2022. Herewith we would like to inform you about innovations and changes in the area of the digital University Library, which is always available for you. From home students and employees of the TU Chemnitz can also access our digital holdings (ebooks, ejournals, databases). All you need for this is a current URZ login and a VPN connection to the campus network.
We have compiled all information on the expansion of the e-book offers as well as innovations and changes in licensing for you in a structured overview.
Below we would like to inform you about some of them in more detail:
EBS Models
Evidence Based Selection models are a type of user-driven acquisition. Usually for 12 months, for example, a library acquires the rights to use a selection of e-books from a publisher, which can be used without restriction during the licensing period. At the end of the term, the library can purchase some e-books permanently for the amount of the licensing costs. For this purpose, it uses usage statistics provided by the publishers. The Chemnitz University Library has licensed EBS packages from the publishers Elsevier, Wiley, Cambridge, Erich-Schmidt-Verlag, Beck-E-Library, Duncker & Humblot, Hogrefe for 2022.
Criminal Justice Abstracts with Full Text
Criminal Justice Abstracts with Full Text is the leading full-text database for criminal justice and criminology literature searches. It offers renowned journals covering the fields of forensic science, law enforcement, policing, and criminal law and criminology.
Archiv Bibliographica Judaica
Another new addition to our database is the Archiv Bibliographica Judaica, which provides bio-bibliographical information on more than 20.000 German-speaking Jews who contributed to literature, philosophy, religion, art, music and politics in the period from the 18th to the 20th century.
NWB-Modul Steuer + Studium
With licensing of this module of the publisher NWB all current issues of the magazine Steuer und Studium with practice exams, case studies and knowledge checks on tax topics can be viewed.
Süddeutsche Zeitung Archive (SZ LibraryNet)
The Chemnitz University Library offers an online access to the Süddeutsche Zeitung via the browser-based archive database SZ LibraryNet. Articles up to 1992 can be viewed. Furthermore, the daily Germany edition is already available the day before at 10 p.m., the Bavaria and Munich editions in the morning from 7 a.m. onwards.
Journal Citation Report
To support the selection of suitable journals for your publications, Chemnitz University Library licensed the Journal Citation Report from Clarivate Analytics at the beginning of this year. This is part of the Web of Science database and offers extensive analysis and comparison options through metrics for journal evaluation, such as the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) or (new) the Journal Citation Indicator (field standardized , comparison of journals across disciplines).
The new user interface offers interactive visualizations and ease of use. If you still like to use the classic interface, you can do so in the upper right corner under “Products – Journal Citation Reports (Classic)”. The “Manuscript Match” feature is designed to help quickly find the appropriate journal for an existing publication using the title and abstract.
Within the Web of Science Core Collection the Science and Social Sciences Citation Indexes as well as the Arts & Humanities section and the Emerging Sources Citation Index are evaluated. Web of Science is a renowned, multidisciplinary and English-language database.
We wish you a lot of pleasure in learning, researching or simply browsing through our new e-offers.
