Help! – Become a volunteer developer

Do you have ideas how your TUCapp can get even better? Do you also have programming skills? As you may know, there are many ways to change your TUCapp. One way is to voluntarily program app concepts together with the development team. Today we want to explain to you how this works.

How can you help us?

As the first step, you need to briefly introduce yourself to us with your programming skills. Get in touch by email (support@hrz.tu-chemnitz.de) and tell us something about your skills, knowledge and ideas.

After contacting us, you will get access to the TUCapp Gitlab project. A member of the development team can grant you this access. The TUCapp is managed via the version control system Gitlab, for this reason you cannot support us without this access.

How do we program? What else do you need to know?

We use React Native and Expo to develop the TUCapp. As a result, basic knowledge of React navigation is important. Also, we use RESTful API as application programming interface‎ and Redux as state management library. OpenAsist is our main server from which we make API calls.

For more information, you can check out our short tutorial material. In this you will learn how to use the Expo toolkit to develop a responsive native app.

Do you have further questions? Feel free to contact our support.
We look forward to you and your ideas!
