The URZ’s MySQL/MariaDB database service is well received by our users. As with other URZ network services, connections are encrypted with TLS certificates. The regular, manual renewal of the certificates is or was previously quite time-consuming.
On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, the corresponding database server will be switched to an automated procedure based on the “dehydrated” software from the provider “Let’s Encrypt” for certificate renewal. This changes the certificate provider and certificate chain. For example, if you use encrypted SSL connections in your applications to connect to the respective database, you may need to make adjustments here.
