QR code generator and short link service

QR codes have been popular for a long time in order to enable quick access to a website on printed products such as flyers, posters and handouts or in presentations. Links or other text messages can be encoded in the matrices of black and white squares, which can then be decrypted, for example, with the help of the smartphone.

At Chemnitz University of Technology, the codes can be generated with the in-house QR code generator, which is offered as a practical tool in the service portfolio of the URZ. After entering any link or other text and clicking on the “Create QR Code” button, the code is offered as *.png or in the vector format *.svg for download. The QR codes are generated completely in the browser with Javascript, no data is stored. According to positive feedback, the tool also enjoys great popularity outside the Chemnitz University of Technology.

Short link for more clarity?

If it is better to be a short link, we also have something in the programme: with our short link service under mytuc.org, students and employees of the TUC themselves can create short links of the form mytuc.org/abcd, the “My short URLs” tab gives insight into access numbers and the last call of their personal short links and they can also delete them automatically again. A QR code (*.png format) is also offered directly to the short link. Please note that the service is limited to web offers in the area of Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC, TUCed, OPAL, HDS, Videocampus …).

Tip: The target pages behind the short links can still be adjusted as needed. This may be necessary under certain circumstances if, for example, a false link has been made or the target has changed. In this case, write us a short email with the corresponding adjustment request.
